Last week ended with the news that Sony had secured right to Quentin Tarantino's next movie after an intense bidding war with several other major studios. To start off this week, we've got news on the first plot details for the untitled film.
It was previously known that the film would in some way feature the Manson Family murders, with Margot Robbie being eyed for the role of Sharon Tate. Now, Vanity Fair is reporting that the film takes place in Los Angeles in the summer of 1969, following "a male TV actor who’s had one hit series and is looking for a way to get into the film business. His sidekick—who’s also his stunt double—is looking for the same thing.” The Manson murders would serve as a backdrop for the main story.
Big names like Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, and Leonardo DiCaprio have been rumored for the project and now I'm giddy at the thought of Tom Cruise playing Brad Pitt's stunt double. All signs point to this film harkening back to Pulp Fiction era Tarantino, and I'm all for it.
Filming is scheduled to begin in June 2018 with a release date sometime in 2019.
